Teacher’s Perception of Self-Assessment in English Writing Competency for Junior High School Students

Self-assessment provides many benefits in learning English, especially terms of writing ability. This study aims to analyze teachers' perceptions and challenges that teachers find the application selfassessment students' competencies at everal junior high school Nusa Penida. used mixed method explanatory design as research approach. The subjects this were EFL secondary three school. Quantitative data a questionnaire obtain accurate related teacher perceptions. Qualitative semistructured interviews. interview statement was adjusted theory questionnaire. collection from is analyzed by using Excel out median In interview, thematic analysis. result shows have tend be positive towards implementation self-assessment competency means for students self-reflect, help get feedback, develop ideas better confidently independently. Teachers also experience obstacles implementing purpose still not well understood students.
